Casa Kahu – (Casa- home in Spanish ) (Kahu – Hawk in Maori). Named so because of Hawks that sore and play on the thermals in front of our home, with the stunning back drop of Mt. St. Bathans and Hawkdun Mountains behind. The Spanish influence is from our time living in South America and Kahu from our New Zealand heritage.
Casa Kahu is a place to relax, unwind and get off the beaten track. With un interrupted views of Mt St Bathans and boarder by the Dunstan Creek, the house is entirely off the grid and fully self-sufficient.There are 3 luxurious bedrooms all exquisitely furnished with private bathrooms. Due to the remoteness of the place, breakfast and dinner is provided during your stay. We source lamb beef and pork from our small farm, organic wild duck and venison hunted during the year on our property and the surrounds. Vegetables and other produce from our garden, neighbours and the local farmers market. Wine and craft beers are all sourced locally to compliment the food. If staying for a few days, excellent restaurants and classic kiwi pubs are only a short drive away.
We offer Luxury Rail Trail guests an exclusive experience while cycling the Otago Central Rail Trail and also multi day stays based from Casa Kahu to explore St Bathans and the Blue Lake, Oteake Conservation Area and much more. You can chose from a variety of activities such as back country e-bike excursions, cycling, fishing, hunting, paddle boarding, curling and much more.
